The math MCA's have come and gone. After reflecting with my students, they felt they were well prepared. I was a little frustrated with the Pearson's testing website. A student was kicked out multiple times. I wonder what he was feeling and what his mind set was after that. Will the state take that into consideration when looking at his score?
One question I asked the students was, "What helped you the most in preparation for the MCA test?"
Quite a few mentioned the Jeopardy type game we played that reviewed the four areas of the test. Others commented on the learning targets we used this year. Khan Academy and Study Island were also mentioned. My favorite comment was that I had given them the right amount of practice all year long to prepare them.
Next go around I will take the first three ideas that helped most and try to use them with all the units. Most seemed to really enjoy the game show type activities.
I have lots of reflecting to do this summer about what and how I will instruct this next year. There are lots of ideas bouncing around my head. Time to start to write them down.
